Try these 5 sure fire ways to get your system back into shape for bed time and be able to sleep soundly!

Night Time Ritual for Better Sleep!

During the winter months, the early sunsets and late sunrises can sure be a bummer. Waking up to no natural light can be disorienting to our system.. Try these 5 sure fire ways to get your system happier for bedtime and sleep more soundly!

Eat earlier – Our digestive system takes energy to digest the food we feed it, and can be distracting to our sleep, taking away our body from maximizing shut down mode. So try to at a little earlier so that your system can be well digested.

Prepare for bed – create a routine so that your system knows it’s getting ready for bed. Brush your teeth, wash your face, put your pyjamas on.

Unwind – Before getting into bed it might be a good idea to stretch your body allowing the body to open up to get some oxygen moving through it. Forward bends are suggested here creating a feeling for your body, that it is ready for bed.

Create the right temperature in your room – If it’s too cold or too hot the body struggles to find the perfect temperature (The Set Point). If your room is at the right temperature, sleep will be easier to achieve, and you will be less likely to wake up in the middle of the night. As well, if it’s set at the right temperature, the quality of your REM sleep improves. (Dream Stage.)
