The practice of prenatal yoga is an opportunity to enhance your pregnancy with presence and trust, in addition to being ideal to prepare for childbirth and motherhood. Designed specifically for a pregnant woman’s needs, classes embraces the practice of postures, breath awareness and relaxation to help ease pregnancy, delivery and the after effects of birth. These classes help to strengthen and soften, make room for the baby in the womb, soothe the nervous system and welcome the transformations of the body.

Our prenatal yoga classes provide a safe and supportive environment for expectant mothers and are a wonderful way to connect with other mothers-to-be. Prenatal yoga program is for pregnant women from 8 weeks until birth, no previous yoga experience required.

POSTNATAL YOGA: with Jenny Berthiaume

Mondays 2:30-3:40pm June 5th – July 10th

Postnatal yoga is a great way to get back in shape without the need of a babysitter! Practicing yoga after childbirth is a precious time to rest, rejuvenate and inspire.

The intention in postnatal yoga is to help women strengthen their back, abdominal and pelvic floor muscles, release tension in the shoulders and neck muscles, decrease stress and promote inner-calm. Classes use asana (postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises) to tone from the inside out, while giving time to bond with their babies as dedicated games and movements with the little ones are integrated.

Our postnatal yoga classes provide a safe and supportive environment to relax and renew, and are a wonderful way to connect with other moms and babies. The program is appropriate for women from about 6 to 8 weeks postpartum, up until about 8 months, or when baby begins to crawl; no previous yoga experience required.

Gaga is a movement language which Ohad Naharin developed over the course of many years and which is applied in daily practice and exercises by the Batsheva Dance Company members.  The language of Gaga originated from the belief in the healing, dynamic, ever-changing power of movement, and it continues to evolve today.

Gaga is a new way of gaining knowledge and self-awareness through your body. Gaga provides a framework for discovering and strengthening your body and adding flexibility, stamina, and agility while lightening the senses and imagination. Gaga raises awareness of physical weaknesses, awakens numb areas, exposes physical fixations, and offers ways for their elimination. The work improves instinctive movement and connects conscious and unconscious movement, and it allows for an experience of freedom and pleasure in a simple way, in a pleasant space, in comfortable clothes, accompanied by music, each person with himself and others.
